Brought prison and probation records from 42 separate sites into two secure data centres: 7.5 million highly confidential cases moved safely for 25,000 staff.

The problem

Prison and probation casework was running across 42 separate sites, each with its own infrastructure, support and data, making it almost impossible to see across cases.

The records were highly confidential and the systems were live, so nothing could be lost or interrupted. Everything had to move into two secure national data centres without dropping service.

What we built

We moved all 42 sites onto a single new system housed in two secure national data centres, bringing 7.5 million highly confidential prison and probation records together safely for 25,000 staff to access.

  • 42 area centres consolidated into 2 strategic DCs
  • 7.5m cases migrated safely
  • 25k users on the new platform
  • £7m of RFS work approved through reshaped process
