The problem
Registering a birth or death was a paper-based process, with the knock-on changes rippling slowly across central government and 442 local authorities.
Government policy called for joined-up services: register once online, and have benefits and services across HMRC, DWP, DVLA and others update automatically. It was a complex build spanning five separate suppliers.
What we built
We drove the build that turned registering a birth or death into a single online step, with the right updates flowing automatically to four central departments and 442 local authorities. The hard part was coordination: we brought five separate suppliers together and kept the whole programme on track and accountable.
