I'm Richard Slater. I'm the person behind Audyn.
I spent almost 20 years delivering large-scale digital transformations for some of the UK's biggest organisations.
That's a fancy way of saying: when big organisations had broken systems, lost data, or couldn't get their technology to work properly, they called people like me to fix it.
The Corporate Career
I started in technology in the mid-90s, straight out of a Master's degree in Computing from the University of Manchester. Over the next two decades I worked my way up through increasingly complex programmes.
Over two decades I delivered programmes for organisations including Sky, the NHS, HMRC, Defra, the University of Manchester, ACCA, and Barclays — among others.

The Turning Point
Every organisation I worked with — whether it was Sky, the NHS, or a university — had the same fundamental problems:
- Manual processes that should have been automated years ago
- Customers (or patients, or citizens) not getting responses quickly enough
- Money being wasted because systems didn't talk to each other
- Information in the wrong place and inconsistent
Then every barber, windscreen fitter, joiner, decorator I spoke to would complain about missing calls, losing work and not being able to get back to potential customers. Callers left no voicemail. No follow-up. No systems. Just lost work.
Conversations in the gym, at football, at tennis all showed how hard small and medium businesses struggle with keeping all the plates spinning.
Same problem. Completely different scale.
The difference? Sky got a £4.5 million solution. My mate got told to "check his voicemail more." That didn't sit right.
Why Audyn Exists
I started Audyn to bring proper technology solutions to small businesses — particularly tradespeople and service businesses who are too busy doing their actual job to worry about websites, AI, and automation.
We work with small- to mid-sized businesses. We serve the SMEs who need to do more. The skilled coaches and consultants. The professional service providers who deserve more than fighting for scraps. The ones who should be leading, but feel forced to follow.
Not watered-down, template solutions. Not "here's a chatbot, good luck." Proper systems thinking, applied to businesses that actually need it.
Audyn serves a wide number of industries including:
And so many others.
Don't see your industry? Get in touch — if you run a service business, there's a good chance we can help.

Why Me, Not a Marketing Agency
I'm not a marketer who learned about AI last year.
I've been building and delivering technology solutions since 1995. I've managed programmes worth millions of pounds across multiple countries. I've worked with C-suite executives, government departments, and global organisations.
I also know what it's like to run your own thing. To be the person who does the work AND answers the phone AND chases the invoices AND tries to remember to ask for a Google review.
That combination — serious technical background, understanding of how small businesses actually work — is what makes Audyn different.
You're not getting a teenager with a laptop and a Canva subscription. You're getting someone who's spent two decades making technology work for organisations that can't afford for it not to.
Let's have a 15-minute call
If any of this resonates — if you're a tradesperson or small business owner who knows they're losing work to missed calls, a poor website, or just not being visible enough online — book a 15-minute call.
No pitch. No pressure. I'll look at what you've got, tell you what's costing you money, and show you how I'd fix it. If it makes sense, we'll work together. If it doesn't, you'll still walk away knowing exactly where your business is leaking revenue.
